Rhone Paradox

Château Mas Neuf Cuvée Rhône Paradox label     

This range of pleasurable, sensual wines has been developed for friendliness and warmth. Without taking the easy route: one finds in them all the wine varieties of the region - carignan bringing original differences to the reds, the old white grenache vines putting their stamp of freshness on the White Mas Neuf and the old cinsaut gives its refinement to the rosés.

Available in four versions (1.5l, 750ml, 500ml and 375ml) these wines for early drinking but which have a certain finesse, are just comfortable being on the terraces of Saintes-Maries as on the tables of the best rated restaurants. See list...

Mas Neuf Rhône Paradox Rouge

Grape varieties

Syrah (50%), Grenache (15%), Mourvèdre (20%), Carignan (15%).

Tasting notes

Intense garnet colour.
The nose reveals red fruits (raspberry, redcurrants) combined with subtle hints of eucalyptus and bouquet garni. Aromas of very ripe fruit, leather and bouquet garni.
The palate is sensual and is distinguished by a good balance of freshness. The aromas of very ripe fruit, leather and bouquet garni indicate full ripeness of the grapes resulting. With its subtle tannins the Mas Neuf Rhône Paradox can be tasted now or could be laid down in the cellar for 2 to 5 years.

Terroir

Selection of 5 to 20-year old vineyard blocks, on soils containing Villafranchian pebbles with very good filtration properties.

Vinification

15 to 20 days of fermentation on the skins after destemming and crushing
Fermentation at a controlled temperature (28°C)
Maturation in tanks and barrels (15%) that have been used for wines from the Great classified growths (Smith-Haut-Lafitte, Lafite-Rothschild, Pape Clément) for a period of 9 months.

Mas Neuf Rhône Paradox Blanc

Grape varieties

White Grenache (65%), Roussanne (35%).

Tasting notes

Brilliant yellow colour
The up-front nose uninhibitedly reveals fresh fruit aromas (yellow peaches) that combine with hints of white flowers.
The palate develops fully with a fresh, tonic finish.

Selection of 5 to 20-year old vineyard blocks, on soils containing Villafranchian pebbles with very good filtration properties.

Vinification

Cold settling
Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at low temperature (16°C).

Mas Neuf Rhône Paradox Rosé

Grape varieties

Cinsaut (55%), Grenache noir (10%), Mourvèdre (25%), Syrah (10%).

Tasting notes

Soft rose and gentle sky colours.
The expressive nose is reminiscent of ripe strawberries combining with hints of lime blossom and the garrigue - the scrubland of southern France.
The palate is voluptuous with a beautiful, bracing finish..
